ABOUT THE BLOG: This blog started life in 2010, all to do with the famous TT and Manx Grand Prix motorcycle races, held annually on the Isle of Man. The aim is to chat about races, bikes, people, history, hopefully have a few laughs, quite possibly a dash of controversy, and also some insights into what my job involves. Please join in!
ABOUT ME: Since 2004 I’ve been lead commentator for Manx Radio’s coverage of TT and MGP. Before taking over the mic for Manx Radio I reported the races for BBC TV for over 10 years. I was the commentator for the TV production of the TTXGP, the original zero-emissions TT and provided commentary for Closer to the Edge, the sensational CineMANX movie which was a huge hit in 2011. What else? I covered Premier League football for many years for the BBC, Setanta Ireland and Today FM Dublin, and I teach sports journalism to the next generation of hacks and commentators at the University of Central Lancashire, the country’s top uni for journalism.

Hi Charlie,
Just wanted to let you know about our Art & Motorsport Events taking place during the TT festival.
Here is the link to our events page on our website, it would be great if you could give us a mention in your blogs etc…try to entice some people to our Hospice Charity event and my friends Andy Finlays Motorsport photographic event. All of which take place in the St. Ninain’s Parish Centre & Church respectively.
If you would like to know more, check out listen again for my interview with Bob Harrison of Manx Radio fame.

Hi Charlie,
Just wanted to say you did a fantastic job yesterday and I know it couldn’t have been easy.
George Lue got some photos of you and they’re on his Facebook page, hope you don’t mind if I tag you.
It was the first time I’d actually seen you in the flesh, so it was nice to be able to put a face to the familiar voice of TT. Shame it had to be in such sad circumstances.
Thank you.
Boakesey
(Photographer, TT marshal and teacher!)
Thanks for the comments Boakesey. It was a very emotional occasion and I hope Dobsy’s family were able to feel the warmth and support from everyone present.
Hi Charlie
I would very much like to address a few comments about the TT course to yourself and Roy Moore following his comments during the MGP. It might turn out to be longer than your blog space will allow.
Arre you happy for me to send it via this blog or is/are there an email address/addresses where I can send my thoughts to you and to Roy.
Many thanks
Ian Leacy
